Five Things to Know Before You Schedule Your Silo Cleaning

Whether you’re a first-time Mole•Master client or you’re thinking about switching to a more professional silo maintenance approach, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are five things that will help you get the most out of your service – and make the whole process smoother for everyone involved.

  1. Know what’s in your silo (as best you can)

The material stored in your vessel plays a big role in how we approach the job. Cement buildup, grain residue, coal, pet food – each has its own characteristics and cleaning challenges. The more information you can share with us upfront about what’s inside, how long it’s been there, and what issues you’ve noticed, the better prepared our crew will be.

  1. Understand that “cleaning” can mean different things

A basic cleanout is different from a full preventative maintenance program, which is different again from a structural inspection or an M-LAS LiDAR scan. Before we get started, we’ll talk through your goals so we can recommend the right combination of services. You might only need one, or you might benefit from bundling a few together.

  1. Downtime doesn’t have to be a disaster

We get it – any time your facility is offline costs money. That’s why our teams are trained to work efficiently and minimize disruption to your operations. If you’re running on a tight schedule, let us know upfront so we can plan accordingly. Preventative maintenance programs can also help you schedule proactively, rather than scrambling after an unexpected blockage.

  1. Don’t wait until there is a problem

This is the big one. Blocked silos and deferred maintenance rarely get better on their own -and a small issue today can become a costly shutdown tomorrow. If it’s been a while since your last cleaning or inspection, now is a great time to get it on the calendar. Regular maintenance protects your assets, extends their lifespan, and keeps your operations running smoothly.

  1. You can reach us fast when you need us

If you’ve got an urgent situation, don’t hesitate. Our rapid response line 800.322.6653 (US only) – exists precisely for those moments when you can’t afford to wait. We’re also reachable at 740.374.6726 or by email at contactus@molemaster.com for routine inquiries and quote requests.

We hope these tips are helpful as you plan your next service. We’re always happy to chat through your specific situation and figure out the best path forward together.
