Seeing Inside Your Silos Without Sending Anyone In -Meet M-LAS

What if you could get a complete, accurate picture of the interior of your silo – every deposit, every structural detail, every cubic foot of material – without ever sending a worker inside? That’s exactly what Mole•Master’s M-LAS (Mole•Master Laser Asset Scanning) service makes possible.

M-LAS uses advanced LiDAR technology to create digital doubles of your bulk storage assets, giving you the data you need while keeping your people safely outside. It’s one of the most exciting offerings we’ve added to our lineup, and once clients see it in action, they quickly understand why.

What makes M-LAS stand out?

The scanning achieves ±2mm accuracy – that’s millimeter-level precision – capturing millions of data points from outside the vessel with zero confined space entry required. No permits, no rescue standby, no safety incidents. Just clean, detailed data delivered in 5 – 7 business days.

The process works in four stages: an on-site survey to identify scan points and minimize disruption, the LiDAR scan itself, data processing into point clouds and 360° imagery, and finally digital delivery in formats your team can actually use.

Who benefits from M-LAS?

The deliverables are tailored to different roles within your organization. Operations teams receive 360° HDR images, volume data for accurate material tracking, and annotated findings through a secure web portal. Engineering teams get CAD-compatible 3D models in formats like .las, .e57, and .rcp, complete with measurement overlays and cross-sections. Asset managers receive baseline scans for long-term condition tracking, full audit trails, and trend analysis across multiple scan periods.

Real results from the field

In one recent case, M-LAS provided next-day operational insights on a dormant silo – saving the client from unnecessary confined-space entry costs entirely. In another, LiDAR analysis identified ductwork buried in five feet of material within just 30 minutes, allowing for immediate course correction and safe project completion.

With 40+ years of experience in bulk storage and MSHA & OSHA-trained technicians operating the equipment, M-LAS is the smarter, safer way to understand what’s happening inside your silos.
